Strategy & Research Analyst

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Strategic Research team, helping to ensure that we fully understand current and future trends, as well as the wider macro-economic environment as it relates to AO. You will be responsible for preparing high quality research in order to provide key stakeholders throughout the business with the tools to effectively prioritise potential projects and opportunities. A key part of your role will be to analyse and interpret information (financial, market, consumer and other), then providing commercially relevant recommendations for each area of the Group to drive change and growth.

In addition to regular bench marking against our competitors’ and consumer expectations in existing markets, you will be responsible for researching and understanding potential new markets, both in terms of categories and countries, supporting the delivery of the future growth of the Group.

We work on large pan-European and Group wide projects, as well as supporting the business on their strategic growth plans, so typically are involved in a diverse range of interesting and exciting opportunities.

Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing

  • Responsible for providing timely and meaningful analysis and insight to the relevant business units and wider Group
  • Present, both in writing and verbally, research findings with commercial recommendations based around risk and reward
  • Analysing (financially, strategically and commercially) the value of requests from the business units and working efficiently to solve problems
  • Provide meaningful research analysis and insight to help the business understand the external environment AO plays in to optimise our position further
  • Financial modelling and Analysis (alongside Finance and Commercial teams internally) to assess the viability of new initiatives and projects
  • Generate innovative research projects that could be implemented within the business, ensuring AO remains at the forefront of retail and customer focus
  • Gain (over time) a broad and detailed understanding of AO and our strategy, to effectively analyse opportunities alongside the external market environment

A Few Things About You

  • University degree or relevant academic qualifications, or transferable skills from prior role
  • AAT, CIMA, ACA, MBA or other finance / business related qualifications would be beneficial, but not essential
  • Highly analytical and a problem solver with the ability to disseminate vast quantities of information in a simple and easy to digest format

Copywriter Team Lead

As a Product & UX Copy Team Lead you’ll play an important role in shaping content across our core web pages, bringing products to life and making the shopping journey as easy as possible for customers.

We have an important job of turning the technical and complicated into friendly, easy-to-understand content, so you’ll need to be super-creative and be able to keep your content varied and full of personality. You’ll need to be innovative and driven to help create industry-leading, game-changing copy that is in line with the brand tone of voice. And you’ll be responsible for ensuring the Product & UX Copy Team follow these same standards. You’ll also need to be organised to ensure work is delivered on time by yourself and other team members, and report on deadlines and progress as required.

Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing

  • Responsible for the delivery and development of content on our product pages from end to end, including key feature bullets, product overviews and other copy, as well as scripting 3D, live action and motion graphics video
  • Responsible for UX content throughout the core customer journey – using informed data and insights to create an effortless customer experience that maintains a balance between practical instruction and brand personality within the messaging execution.
  • Lead messaging innovation by identifying key creative opportunities within our work streams or briefing in requests to other departments.
  • Working closely with teams around the business to ensure projects meet deadlines.
  • Be the first point of contact for the Product & UX Copywriters in your area – build strong working relationships, help them to progress their writing and inspire them to think creatively.
  • Ensure our content is consistent across the site – be the guardian of tone of voice.
  • Also be the guardian of content quality within the team – ensuring the copywriters are working to the highest standards.
  • Be proactive, but work closely with the Senior Product & UX Content Manager to collaborate on ideas

A Few Things About You

  • Qualifications in English Language / Marketing or a relevant subject
  • At least 3 years experience in a content-related role, ideally in an e-commerce business
  • Experience in scripting 3D, live action and motion graphic video preferred but not essential
  • Experience in leading a team preferred but not essential

Senior 3D Animator

Working on our online content you will apply your creative and technical art skills, using 3D assets created in house, to create our market leading product review videos. Whilst this role doesn’t have any direct line management, you will be expected to coach and provide feedback to a small team of Junior 3D Animators and 3D Animators.

This role would really suit a 3D Animator with studio or in-house experience who would relish the challenge of joining an extremely fast paced and rapidly growing business!

  • You will be part of a close-knit team, working with other Junior Animators and Animators to produce high quality product review videos ready for the Motion Graphics team

* Collaborating with other animators to develop new techniques and ensure that we work in the most efficient and effective way possible
* Working to tight deadlines to deliver animations to the motion graphics team; providing accurate updates on work in progress
* Working with the wider team to find technical solutions to challenging animations – especially when we have a new product to work on

Providing constructive feedback to junior members of your stream and coaching them to be able to develop their animation skills

A Few Things About You

  • Has experience coaching and developing junior members of a team
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Is able to work under pressure to deadlines and multi task effectively, taking accountability for your own work
  • Obsesses about the detail and has a huge passion for delivering quality work
  • Has a knack for problem solving and technical thinking skills

TECHNICAL SKILLS – Essential

  • Strong experience in camera animation, paying particular attention to pacing and overall aesthetic (including texturing and lighting)
  • Experience using Cinema4D, Maya, 3dsmax or other similar 3D packages. Our team all work on Cinema4D and training will be provided for candidates with experience in another software package.

TECHNICAL SKILLS – Nice to have

  • Cloth/particle simulation experience – specifically with RealFlow and Marvellous Designer
  • Knowledge of preparing and compositing multi-pass renders using After Effects, Fusion, Nuke or similar software.
  • Experience setting up models for animation using constraints, rigs, drivers, or other software specific features such as Cinema 4D’s Xpresso.
  • Knowledge of Python scripting.
