The Role

What our Store Managers do:

They ensure the efficient operation of their store to maximise sales profits
They lead, inspire and motivate their team
They act as brand ambassadors for Heron
They ensure our customers receive unrivalled customer service
They deliver exceptional store standards
They continually seek and implement improvements for both the customer and store performance

The Candidate

Successful candidates will:

Have previous store management experience, preferably in a food retail environment
Have experience managing a team including: training, recruitment, performance management, employee relations
Have a full understanding of food retail legislation and procedures
Have previously been accountable for store KPIs including stock control, store standards, sales and wages
Take pride in managing their own store and providing an exceptional service to customers
Be a self-starter who thrives in a working environment that is fast paced and at times demanding
Have a hands-on approach and be happy to get stuck in!

Warehouse and Transport opportunities

Our Warehouse and Transport team ensure stock is where it needs to be, at the right time. The team are based at our purpose-built Distribution Centre in Melton, East Yorkshire.


Our Warehouse Operatives pick the stock that goes in to our stores.


Our Wrapper Operatives have an important role ensuring stock is securely packed so it arrives in store in perfect condition.


Our Cleaning Operatives provide a high standard of cleanliness throughout our Warehouse.


Our Supervisors ensure the smooth running of their departments. In addition, they manage, motivate and develop team members.

HGV Drivers

Our Drivers are responsible for the delivery of stock to our stores. They are also responsible for unloading stock once they arrive at store.


Our Managers are responsible for the effective management of the Distribution Centre. They are involved in strategic planning but also have a hands-on approach.

Transport Office

Our Transport Office team are responsible for the safe, efficient and legally compliant delivery of supplies to our stores.

Store Support Centre (SSC) opportunities

Based in Melton, East Yorkshire, our Store Support Centre colleagues provide support to all areas of our business. If you choose a role within the SSC, you will enable our distribution and retail teams to deliver first class service to our customers. You will develop and execute innovative ideas that support our ambitious growth plans.

Human Resources

Our HR team consists of dedicated HR Business Partners, Coordinators and Administrators.


Our Finance department work hard to keep things ticking behind the scenes. The team is made up of several functions including Accounts, Payroll and Cashiers.
