Key Responsibilities
Complete sets of accounts, working from source documents/records to final accounts for review by the appropriate manager or partner
Work on a wide range of accounts
Effectively manage time to ensure that jobs are finished within budget
Supervise and coach junior staff
Produce management accounts monthly and quarterly
Corporation tax computations (if appropriate)
Produce VAT returns

Skills and Experience
AAT qualified, ideally studying for ACCA or ACA. Qualified by at least 5 years’ experience as an alternative.
Strong practical knowledge/experience of accounts preparation within a practice environment
Strong double entry knowledge and skill
Good working knowledge of SAGE, Xero, and other IT packages
Basic tax knowledge – how to do tax computations, PAYE, VAT
Accuracy, Organisational/time management skills
Communication – good written, verbal and active listening skills
Confident when dealing with clients and getting your views across
Methodical and logical thinking
Use initiative to identify problems and provide solutions

We do not require AAT Trainees to have a business or financial background. However, we do ask that all applicants have achieved, or are predicted to achieve at least 112 UCAS points (based on the new 2017 UCAS Tariff) from 3 A Levels or equivalent, all achieved during the same exam year. This excludes General Studies.

  • Answer switchboard and take/relay messages as appropriate
  • Greet visitors, sign visitors in and out, make drinks
  • Maintain daily timesheets (staff signing in and out records)
  • Receive deliveries

  • Place periodicals/brochures in reception
  • Take/organise bookings for meeting rooms
  • Arrange catering for lunches/meetings and order/keep stock
  • Collate/update telephone extension lists
  • Report and arrange work on broken telephones/faxes
  • Secretarial duties to include scanning of the daily post, enveloping post and franking.

  • Maintain log of client records
  • Log/send and distribute received and sent faxes
