Description
Join our Innovation team as a Digital Developer Apprentice, supporting our colleagues in delivering a World Class Customer Experience, through a wide variety of Digital, technical and infrastructure projects within the Innovation team. You will be studying towards a Foundation Degree in Digital Innovation at Ada, National College for Digital Skills.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the no.1 high-service distributor for engineers across Europe and Asia Pacific, and be involved in our Agile journey. The Innovation team’s purpose is to transform our business to provide an unrivalled digital experience for our customers and suppliers.
Role:
- Assisting with a range of roles including coding, development, testing, consulting and project management
- Working within various departments including innovation, technology, digital and data to build upon the customer experience
- Learning how to apply problem solving skills to real world situations; picking up new technical skills such as programming; learning about software testing and other industry practices; seeing how software is designed and developed in modern project environments
- Linking code to the database
Desirable Qualities:
- Have a passion for software development and technology with perhaps some exposure to coding.
- Excellent communication and team working skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively to properly understand user requirements while accommodating new ideas.
- Self-motivated with the ability to learn quickly and master new skills
- Flexibility to travel to London to attend college on a regular basis
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications Required
Entry Criteria:
- Educated to A level (or equivalent) at C or above with at least one qualification in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
- Grades A*-C or grade 4 (or equivalent) in GCSE English & Maths
- The right to live and work in the UK
- Must have lived within the EU/EEA for at least 3 years
