Transport for London (TfL) is a local government body responsible for the transport system in Greater London, England. Fleet Technician

As a Fleet Technician you will ensure that the fleet assets of London Trams (LT) including associated assets and interfaces are maintained within established tolerance levels. This will be managed through the systematic inspection and maintenance of the assets, documentation of inspections and maintenance works.

You will be responsible for carrying out all works required to deliver service to meet the business requirements. Additionally you will carry out safety critical activities as outlined in the Railways and Other Guided Transport Systems (Safety) Regulations 2006 (ROGS).

The successful candidate will be required to work a shifted roster to support the 24/7 operation of the depot environment.

Salary starts at £36,000 and rises to £41, 840 after 6 month probation period including the attainment of competency within this period. 
A 24% shift allowance will be added to the base salary above. Circa £51,000. 
Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure all inspection, maintenance, fault finding and upgrade works are undertaken to a high standard in line with defined standards, best practice and within specified timescales.
  • Responsible for the safety of own work, worksite, personal safety and that of associated persons.
  • Work with the asset management system (Ellipse) to receive work orders, obtain vehicle history data, and generate completed work returns.
  • Undertake inspection, maintenance and repair of the Fleet vehicles to ensure that the asset condition is supportive of a safe, reliable and efficient service to passengers.
  • Inform the Service Delivery Manager of deficiencies or deterioration in asset condition along with proposed remediation and timescales.
  • Operate relevant mechanical plant and equipment as required.

The Network Management (NM) Directorate is responsible for maintaining and operating the circa. 6,000 traffic signal installations in London. Of these 3,000 are linked to the Directorate Urban Traffic Control (UTC) system, the majority of which run dynamic UTC SCOOT control, whilst the remainder operate UTC Fixed Time. • Following the announcement in January 2018, the Mayor has requested that delivery of new cycling infrastructure be accelerated, with the aim to commission substantial sections by the end of 2019.

• NM provides significant input to the programme, through the provision of specialist Network Manager and Transport Modeller resource to support the design and implementation of traffic signal schemes that improve provision for cyclists on street.

• Consultants have been a key part of the development of the current wave of major cycle infrastructure to be introduced onto London’s road network.

Scope of work
• Undertake local area calibration exercise for the 2014 ONE Base model (AM and PM), produce updated 2021 Future Base model (AM and PM), develop one or more 2021 Do Something models (AM and PM) based on provided design(s), using LINSIG/TRANSYT to update signal timings
• Extraction of flow and routing information for Base, Future Base and Do Something (AM and PM) for input into VISSIM
• Production and analysis of ONE Model outputs and completion of technical modelling reports.
• The CTCM will be required to develop Base, Future Base and Do Something scenarios in the ONE Model using VISUM software for each CFR and to measure and report the impacts of the CFR designs.

• To run group based assessment sessions of employees to ensure DAATS provide the most appropriate advice to enable the employee to ultimately safely return to the workplace
• To run aftercare support group of employees returned to work following Residential Treatment as part of the ongoing Monitoring Requirement
• To organize and facilitate formal case meetings with managers and employees in which DAATS advice is presented and relevant documentation is agreed and signed.
• To document and record all relevant case information and produce formal case reports as appropriate ensuring comprehensive case management
• To liaise with relevant parties and keep informed and updated as required to ensure safety
• To undertake client reviews as part of ongoing monitoring and advising on issues where safety maybe compromised
• Provide advice and guidance to assist the business in the safe management of employees with drug and alcohol problems
• To assist in delivering specialist D&A training within TFL.
• To attended weekly clinical team supervision.
