Academic Services Officer

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Academic Services Officer is responsible for both the support of senior committees and the coordination of academic services across the IOE. S/he will work with a team of Executive Assistants in the Directorate and both IOE and UCL staff at a senior level.

You’ll work with an exceptional team within the IOE Directorate, which is the central administrative office within the Institute of Education (IOE) and acts as the point of contact for central university officers, other faculties of the university, and external organisations. It is responsible for setting the IOE’s strategic direction and driving effective operations.

The post holder will work in collaboration with academic and professional colleagues from across the IOE, to plan and manage the academic services that support the IOE’s activity.

UCL Biological Services is seeking to appoint Auxiliary Animal Technicians who will be responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of laboratory animals and contributing to the upkeep of the Facility.

The School of Slavonic & East European Studies (SSEES) is seeking to recruit a dedicated Human Resources professional, who will play a key role in supporting the delivery and operation of all aspects of the School’s Human Resources policies and procedures, supporting both academic and professional service colleagues.

You will be expected to provide advice and support to the Director and Assistant Director as to the development and implementation of the School HR policies and procedures and administer the selection and recruitment of new staff to the School.  Additionally, you will administer, process and monitor honorary, visiting and affiliate associations with the school and oversee and coordinate the induction and ‘on-boarding’ of new staff.

Key Requirements:
  • In order to carry out the duties effectively the person appointed will be educated to  A’levels or have equivalent qualifications. It would be expected that the appointed person will have significant experience of working in a Human Resources role. 
  • Having prior experience of supporting and coordinating staff recruitment and supporting and contributing to the development of HR policies and procedures are essential. 
  • You will have excellent organisation skills, including the ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and prioritising work effectively. 
  • Being able to deal with people in a calm and constructive manner with tact, discretion and confidentiality and diplomacy are also essential. 
  • Having excellent written and verbal communication skills together with the ability to problem-solve is also a requirement for the post. 
  • Being proficient with IT skills including Microsoft word and excel and outlook are essential. 
  • Experience and knowledge of using corporate HR systems, in particular Oracle-based systems is advantageous.
