Library Assistant

The Library is seeking to appoint well-motivated team players to join our Shelving team. The successful candidates will help support key Team activities which include the management of both open and closed access locations and supporting the delivery of collection projects e.g. large stock moves. The post-holders will help with the provision of our shelving operation, ensuring returned material is shelved accurately and efficiently according to targets set by the Senior Library Assistant.

All members of the Team are expected to take a flexible and positive approach to their work, and the role holders, although working primarily within the Collections Team, may be asked to undertake a range of duties across the Unit as and when the need arises. Other aspects of Collections work currently include processing Inter-Library Loan requests and populating the Short Loan Collection. At times tasks can be physically demanding.

You will have a good general education to Scottish Higher Level or equivalent. You will have the ability to provide effective customer service, communicate effectively and deliver targets accurately and in a timely manner.

Research Data Officer

The University Library is looking for a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in the evolving open research and data management landscape to join our research data management team to cover maternity leave. The primary role of the post is to provide support in a fast growing area and during an exciting period of research funder driven activity with regard to maximising research data sharing and re-use. You will support the evolving processes, workflows and day-to-day tasks of the Research Data Management service. You will also help support the University’s role in the Jisc Research Data Shared Service project.

You will have a degree or equivalent relevant work experience and should be able to demonstrate awareness of the open research environment and knowledge of external (funder, publisher) policies affecting research data management within UK higher education. Experience of working in a research environment will also be an advantage. Training will be provided on key systems including the Current Research Information System (CRIS), PURE.
