Hollister Interview Questions and Answers

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Discuss your interests, previous work experience, and educational background. More so than your hobbies or degree, talk about your professional experience. If you’ve worked in customer service before, highlight it because you’ll almost certainly be dealing with customers.

Can you tell us anything about Hollister?

They’re a clothing store that focuses on the aesthetic of Southern California.
In the year 2000, the first store opened in Columbus, Ohio.
They opened their first overseas location in Canada in 2006.
Abercrombie & Fitch Co. owns Hollister.
Hollister’s first store outside of North America debuted in 2008. They began operations in London, England.

What motivates you to work at Hollister?

State that you enjoy both fashion and people, and that you believe working at Hollister will allow you to accomplish both.
Let’s say you wish to work in a fast-paced setting.

What do you consider to be your greatest strength?

I am a quick learner (which is a wonderful answer because it means other employees will spend less time training you) and I work well under pressure (this is a great answer especially if you are interviewing during their Christmas rush but it works all year round as their stores are always busy during weekends).

What is your biggest flaw?

You should not deny that you have a flaw or describe your strengths as flaws (I am a perfectionist, or I work too hard and neglect my friends and family). Mention a flaw that is necessary for the job but isn’t a deal-breaker if you don’t have it.
When you describe your flaw, be sure to include what you’re doing to overcome it. For instance, I am afraid of public speaking and have registered in a public speaking class to help me conquer my anxiety.

How would you handle a disgruntled customer?

I’d figure out what the customer’s problem is. If it was the product, I would offer to replace it (noting that you should first verify the store’s Hollister Return Policy). It is critical to make the consumer pleased because an unhappy customer is unlikely to return.

If a customer was frustrated because they couldn’t find something specific, I would walk them over to it rather than merely pointing them in the right way.

In five years, where do you see yourself?

If you’re going to college or university, state what you want to do after you graduate.
Mention that you’d like to work in the fashion industry or in-store management (this is a great answer as you will sound like your career goals are in line with their business objectives).

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

Because I enjoy working in the fashion industry and interacting with people. Declare that you believe that looking beautiful will make you feel good. I am confident in my ability to help consumers look and feel wonderful when they leave Hollister.
