Customer Assistant – Being a Customer Assistant at Lidl means starting at 5am some days or finishing at 11pm on others to make sure our stores are ready for our customers. And you’ll need your coffee before you arrive because from the moment you step through the door, you’ll be busy. We don’t have specific jobs for specific people in our stores, so you won’t just be unpacking deliveries or working on the till or stacking the shelves; you’ll be doing all of it. Each shift will be different depending on what the team needs and you might be working weekdays or weekends.

The best advice we could give you is that you’ll need lots of initiative. Our store teams are small and there’s lots to do – so there’s no time to waste. Our efficient ways of working mean our stores are clean, tidy and well-ordered and that customers can always get the products they need and enjoy their visit to our stores. And what about you? Well, you’ll be part of a like-minded team who are all in it together so the time flies by. We make sure our rotas are available 3 weeks in advance so you can make the most of your time outside of work. You’ll be well-trained and challenged to improve daily. Cleaner – Our cleaners play a vital role in getting the day’s worked started. You will work a couple of hours per day, usually as part of the morning shift to make sure our standards of cleanliness are high to create a fantastic and safe shopping experience for our customers. There’s a lot to do in a short amount of time when you’re on shift, so you’ll need to be the type of person that quickly gets on with the job in hand and takes pride in making sure every nook and cranny is swept, mopped and dusted.

The store manager and their team will rely on you to make sure the store is gleaming, ready for a busy day’s trading. You’ll also pay attention to the staff areas of the store, the canteen and toilets for example. If you notice a basic maintenance job you’ll need to take the initiative to do that too. If you’re a hands-on, practical person who gets satisfaction from paying attention to the details and finishing a job to the highest standards, you could be the right person to join our team.

Shift Manager – Shift Manager is a new role for Lidl – an exciting opportunity to join our growing store leadership team. In this role, you’ll support our Store Managers and Deputy Store Managers and have full responsibility for the store when you’re running a shift. Managing a team of Customer Assistants, you’ll motivate the team to complete a busy workload and maintain the highest standards every day. You’ll ensure that our store processes run like clockwork, following our clearly structured processes while keeping an eye on KPIs – it’s a job that’ll keep you on your toes.

Hands-on and proactive, you’ll be an expert at delegating tasks, boosting performance and satisfying customers. You’ll also manage cash and ensure stock is received, checked and organised efficiently, while keeping your team aligned with regulations and procedures. We’ll give you all the responsibility you need to prove yourself as a leader – and plenty of challenges to keep your career growing too.
